NEMILIE · OUR STORY

For the woman who refuses to disappear.

An observation from Mrs. Sharma, Founder of Nemilie

My dear reader,

I grew up in India, where color was never something one needed permission to wear.

Marigolds at celebrations. Vermilion in our traditions. The magnificent, unapologetic plumage of a peacock. Color was everywhere. It was joy, identity, and expression. Nobody thought to ask whether a peacock might look more professional in beige.

Years later, I found myself in corporate rooms where the rules were rather different.

Black was sensible. Navy was safe. Beige was practically a professional qualification. And somewhere between proving ourselves, meeting expectations, and learning how to command a room, we women were quietly encouraged to become a little less conspicuous.

A little less colorful. A little less expressive. A little less ourselves.

A curious arrangement, don't you think?

Because the women I admired most were never lacking in substance. They were brilliant, capable, ambitious, and entirely deserving of the space they occupied.

Yet I kept thinking about the girl who had once loved color without explanation. The one who had opinions, preferences, and a rather delightful disregard for blending in.

She had not disappeared. She was simply waiting to be invited back.

And so, Nemilie was born.

Not because I believe a handbag can make a woman powerful. Good heavens. She's done quite enough to establish that herself.

But because the things we carry can reflect who we are, rather than merely what the world expects us to be.

Our first creation, Arya, takes its inspiration from the peacock. Beautifully expressive, unapologetically colorful, and designed with the practical demands of a working woman's day in mind.

Because beauty without function is a nuisance, and function without personality is rather a missed opportunity.

After all, a woman should not have to choose between making an entrance and making the meeting.

A Word About Mrs. Sharma

Mrs. Sharma is the pen name of Nemilie's very real founder.

I have spent years navigating professional rooms, building a career, and discovering that being taken seriously need not require surrendering everything that makes a woman interesting.

My identity is private. My opinions are not.

Nemilie is for the woman who has spent years becoming everything she was expected to be, and is ready to reclaim a little more of who she has always been.

My dear, you were never too much.
The room was always too small.

With color, conviction, and considerable opinions,

Mrs. Sharma
